Coredy AC1200, Wifi Extender
Rating: 5/5
The AC1200 Wifi Extender by Coredy is an excellent networking device.
Despite the plastic construction, its build quality is great.
The four 3dBi omnidirectional antennas provide excellent signal reception and the fact that their position can be adjusted is an added bonus.
I have also found the bright LED indicators to be extremely useful for checking if the device is working as expected at any time.
The extender has provided a great boost to my WiFi's signal, while no latency increase has been encountered. Due to its dual band capabilities, it can provide an even larger bandwidth to devices that support 5GHz networks. After a week of non-stop usage, its performance has been flawless and it has never lagged or rebooted.
The device can be also used as a Router or as an Access Point.
Switching between the different modes is accomplished via the dedicated switch. After the mode has been changed, the device reboots itself. A reboot takes around 30 seconds, which is really fast compared to other devices that I have used in the past.
Another aspect that really amazed me is the simple setup procedure.
After the WiFi interface has been turned on, the user has to connect to the corresponding network (named Coredy xxx), navigate to 192.168.10.1 and enter "admin" for both username and password.
After that, it is just a matter of selecting the WiFi network that needs to be extended and providing the correct password.
All in all, the user interface is very simple and can provide a great deal of customization to your networks' settings (from WiFi strength to broadcasting channel).
Both WPS and Ethernet protocols are also supported by the device. Using WPS the user can access the network without needing to enter a password, while the Ethernet/WAN ports are useful when using the device in AP or Router mode.
Except from the device, the original box also included a quick start guide, a manual, a WAN cable and a reset pin.
Both booklets are very detailed and contain lots of different user cases so that everyone can operate the AC1200 at is maximum potential.
