IdeaNext Security Camera

Rating 5/5

The IdeaNext is the perfect wireless camera for small area surveillance.

Despite the fact that most of its parts are plastic, it seems to be pretty durable and strong.
The head of the camera can be tilted, while there is a rubber ring on the bottom of the stand to keep it from slipping.
The manufacturer has also included all the essential components so that the camera can be mounted on walls.

The maximum resolution of the camera is 960p and the overall quality of the video is pretty good
considering that the camera is meant to be used for surveillance.
The captured audio quality is pretty good. The voices sound clear and there aren't any significant
distortions.

Due to its infrared LEDs, the camera can capture video even in completely dark environments.
There is a light sensor attached to the front of the camera, which depending on the ambient lighting
turns on/off the infrared LEDs.
When the night vision is on, the LEDs glow red.

As expected, the biggest advantage of the camera is its IP capabilities.
Using the Android/iOS application provided by the manufacturer, the user can control and view the
output of his camera over the Internet.
The pairing process is pretty easy, but due to the fact that the software has been updated, there
are some parts in the manual that don't match with the real pairing procedure.

Below I am listing the steps to pair your camera to your smartphone using the Android application called "NetCam":
1. Open the application
2. Select "Add device"
3. Select "Wireless Configuration WIFI"
4. Select "Camera"
5. Tap on Next - At this point bring your smartphone next to the IP camera.
6. Enter the password of your Wifi Network and press "Start Configuration"
7. Your device will make a sound and after some seconds you will be notified by the camera that the connection is successful.
8. Tap on WIFICAM, tap on Done and the device is paired.

There was a variety of accessories included in the original package: a power brick (rated 5V @ 2A), a long USB cable, a pin (for reseting the device) and a set of screws to mount the device on the wall.
